Important Medicare Information

The following information is intended to be a brief explanation of the parts of Medicare, types of services covered, and approximate cost. For a comprehensive review of the program and the options available to you, please feel free to reach out to us for an appointment. We will help you navigate the system, compare plans offered by multiple carriers, and sign up for the program that best meets your individual needs. Your costs will be the same if you get assistance from MediQuest Plus or you go directly to insurance carriers that are Medicare payers. If we assist you with the enrollment process, MediQuest Plus is compensated by the insurance carrier. If you sign up directly through the carrier, the same compensation is retained by the carrier.

MediQuest Plus is here to help you understand the plans available to you, how they work, your eligibility for those plans, when and how to enroll, what Medicare covers, potential out of pocket costs, how to help fill gaps in coverage.

About Medicare

Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, or people with End-Stage Renal Disease (also called ESRD, this is permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant). It is important to understand how Medicare works as well as when and how to enroll. When choosing Medicare coverage, there is no "one size fits all". You will have choices and your individual situation should be considered when making any decision.

Before you enroll in Medicare, talk to your doctor or other health care providers about the types of services or supplies you may need based on your specific health situation. Ask if Medicare covers those services or supplies. If you need something that is not covered by Medicare, you have to pay for the item, service or supply. Find out if Medicare covers what you need. Knowing these things ahead of enrolling will help you choose the plan or combination of plans that best fits your situation.

Medicare coverage is based on three main factors:

  • 1. Federal and state laws
  • 2. National coverage decisions made by Medicare
  • 3. Local coverage decisions made by companies that process Medicare claims in any given state. These decisions include, but are not limited to, determining whether services are medically necessary

Medicare is not a catastrophic health insurance policy. It does not pay for hospitalization longer than 150 days, and there is no cap on out-of-pocket expenses. Adding a Medicare Supplement health insurance plan or choosing a Medicare Advantage health insurance plan can help pay for what Medicare doesn’t cover, protecting you against huge medical bills.

Medicare Advantage plans take the place of Medicare Parts A and B and usually include Part D Prescription Drug coverage, while Medicare Supplement plans supplement Medicare Part A and Part B, by covering the co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles that Original Medicare doesn’t pay
